Beyonce

I have always been a late bloomer. I only start to take notice of people a little too late after all the hype surounding them has gone down. One such person is Beyonce who shot to stardom with Destiny's Child with platinum hits 'Say My Name', 'Survivor' and 'Bootilicious'..Wel, some people say that Beyonce's dad wanted Beyonce to get some exposure before she went belting out singles and the father(who happened to be the manager of Destiny's Child) packaged Destiny's Child in such a way that Beyonce will be the star..Thank God..Beyonce was certainly the star of Destiny's Child.Nobody can take their eyes off Beyonce cos she's just too freaking hot.I have compiled some pictures of this hot mama and I hope it will be a feast for your eyes.

God's Beautiful Creation!!!

Beyonce's hair is a distraction if u believe me

She doesn't need both hands to 'up' her sex appeal

Moving Out

It's been a long time since I blogged if you consider one week to be a long time according to Esther. I guess i was pretty lazy as I was soaked in the Apprentice mood. I'm quite a late bloomer and I only started to watch Apprentice last year on tv by chance when the show was aired on 2003 if i'm not wrong. However, I had to make the troublesome routine of packing my stuff into bags and I just realised there were close to 15 bags of my stuff..
Wow, you might consider that a lot but my friends commented that I have little stuff compared to them. It was troublesome packing because you know that you have to bring those stuff back again when you move into hostel next semester. One thing is for sure. I will definitely miss this place as I feel a sense of belonging to my room and to the block. I have made some friends over here and it was pretty fun. My knowledge quadrapled ever since I moved in because you tend to hear different perspectives from different and different and unique stories. I do love stories if you have not read my previous post.
I'm quite surprised that there has been a 180 degrees change in me over the last academic year. When I went to my hostel, I just felt that I didn't feel at home and I regretted staying in hostel. To begin with, I didn't have a good impression of NTU as I felt that it was too 'cheena' and it was third class compared to NUS and SMU. Ever since I came here, I grew to like this place as I made great friends in hall as well in tutorial group and toasters. I'm just glad that I came to NTU as I believe the experience gained is invaluable.
NTU may not be the best university but it was the only university which gave me a chance to study a course which I was not interested in. I will make full use of this opportuinity and soar to greater heights(That was cliched. My apologies)

It's Just A Number!!!

I recently had dinner with my friends at Beach Road(The mee goreng is damn good and spicy as well) and the topic of my birthday came up. Well, you see. I will appreciate it if you could present me with an apple ipod, portugal jersery and a year supplies of hersheys cookies and cream for my imminient birthday. Back to the dinner topic. My friends asked me what do i plan to do for my 22nd(can't believe i'm that old) birthday. Megan was egging me to throw a party. I said i'm not intending not to celebrate it not because of the fact i have never really celebrated my birthday on a big scale after perhaps my 10th birthday. My last birthday was a quiet affiar at home. Why this pessimism? To put it simply, I think celebrating my birthday is a waste of time.
First of all, who is going to remember my birthday after it has passed? Secondly, most people don't give a fuck(I'm serious) about you after your birthday and the next time you might see them or see them treating you well or giving the million dollar smile if you celebrate your birthday is your next year birthday. Frankly, I don't blame them. Who should give a fuck about my birthday? I'm neither Brad Pitt nor Ethan Hawke(Those guys are my fav actors by the way) and I understand their reaction.
To me, a birthday is just another day. It's just adding another year to my age. That's not a good thing as I want to be 21 all my life(wishful thinking). I feel that I have not achieved anything or did anything to mankind that warrants me to celebrate my birthday. I can hear the sentimental uproar from my loyal fans and friends going like "You are special." Frankly, I thank those fellas for their concern but I feel that celebrating my birthday is really a waste of my time and most importantly your time.
I have done nothing except age and going through the dutiful educational process(Pri-Sec-JC-army-Uni). What have I done? Zilch.Nothing. I may be special to my friends or fans but I don't feel special. This entry is not to appeal to you or make you sympathise with me. I just want my fans and friends to realise that my birthday to me is just another day. Unless I become a Gandhi or a Bill Gates(I'm not trying to be unrealistic), I rather not celebrate my birthday.
That does not mean that i don't want you guys not to celebrate yr birthday or think that I consider your birthday a waste of time. I always feel happy that my friends celebrate their birthday and I feel happy when I see them happy. Their happiness is so contagious!!Don't ask me why this unusual double standards? It's just my character I guess!!What's my early birthday resolution? Two wishes..To be a human( treat oneself and others with respect) as I feel that humans including myself have degenerated and not to be sucked into lifestyle obsession(like badly wanting the next C.K boxers or Levis Jeans ). I don't want these clothes to define Venkat! That's one step closer to being a slave to these stuff. I would like to end off with a beautiful quote from one of Brad Pitt's movie, Fight CLub-'The things that you own might end up owning you' SImple but brutally true!!!

America

It's been almost two weeks since my last paper(i'm not looking forward to my results as I feel that my performace was a disaster) and I have indulged in countless movies(Jerry Maguire,Scary movie 1,2,3 , Memento, Run Lola Run, Bruce Almighty and the list goes on and on and I don't want to bore the shit out of my loyal readers) and planning my holiday schedule such a way that everyday is a BEAutiful day! The holidays have also given me time to reflect on my actions and on issues close to my heart. Politics has always been my favourite topic as I felt intrigued by historical events which shaped the world and how world leaders respond and it set me thinking about a number of political issues. I would like to talk about my favourite country-America!!!

For starters, America is one of the largest countries in the world and it's economy runs into the trillions and it's military is second to none which is of little surprise considering the fact that they spend heavily on military. I would like to tell my loyal readers that I once hated America for being a bully and supporting corrupt governments for their benefit and practising double standards. However, I recently had a change of heart and I'm beginning to have a different opinion of America.

First, it's not easy being a superpower as you have to mangage all the world issues and in some cases singlehandedly avert a crisis from happening. People always criticise America for not being pro-active and its' delayed or sometimes no-show approach in a crisis. It's very difficult to expect America to be at every single crisis as its' resources are limited and their military is stretched. Domestic issues might take precedence over certain world issues. If the USA president can't even defend his people, how can he defend the world? In some cases, some people feel that America is a busybody and it pokes into other people's business. I feel that being a superpower, America has to be the world police as it will keep potential terrorists and nuclear-wiedling governments at bay. I rather have a world police ensuring that these people will face the music if they try something funny than without any superpower giving potential terrorists and rogue states the license to create mayhem and in some cases wage a war to conquer small states knowing that they can't be stopped.

On the other hand, I don't completely sympathise with America for a number of reasons. I still feel that the Iraq war was more of a economic war than of getting rid of Saddam Hussein. No country,,I repeat NO country in this world would do anything for free and America went into the Iraq war to remove Saadam Hussein and they ought to gain something out of it. Secondly, America's handling of MIddleEast to some people might seem like a disaster. I still feel that this MiddleEast politics can be settled very swiftly if America is willing to take some bold steps which will make the government unpopular back at home. America's handling of this issues are more of a political and economic issue where they know that they can solve this issue but they just do not want to take the necessary steps as they can stand to lose heavily.

I neither hate or love America. I just do not want people to blast Bush and his government blindly and ask themselves what they would have done if they were in his shoes. I asked myself this question and my answer is very simple. I would have done a horrible job at managing world issues and I would continue America's work except starting stupid wars as I feel that the politics are in such a way that America has to act in its' own interests and at the same time defend the world. Hey, we are all power-hungry and money loving people!!!!!!As much as we love peace, we love money as well and this two can't go hand in hand.

Holland Village!!!

This semester had been a pretty interesting one as I had made lots of friends in this 4 months. I guess my network of friends had increased due to one person-Shaheen(was to be a chance meeting and we learnt that we stayed in the same block and we were unaware of that though I have seen her a few times but I can't seem to remember. She was known as my study buddy but I can only recall the stories she told. She has so much stories that you won't get sick of them. She introduced me to her clique and i met some great people. Last thursday, I went out with those fellas and Sneha to Holland Village to celebrate the end of our exams. Anto Baby(that's his real surname), Sharadha(on the road to a scientist), Sreejith( you can ask any questions and he can answer you..), Chitra(my source of movies) and Sneha were searching for a restaurant to eat as Sneha could only eat halal food and we settled on Thai Express.
The food rocked and we each ordered six differrent dishes and all the dishes were more than average. As it was my first dining experience at Thai Express, it made it all sweeter. We headed down to NYDC where we had dessert and it was pretty good as well though we finished the dessert as soon as it reached our tables. NYDC at Holland Village is much better than the one at Suntec.. I guess it's the atmosphere but I feel it's the location as Holland Village still holds a special charm.
I guess I can't wait for the next dining experience with friends as food has always been a hot topic and interest for a Singaporean like me and the dinner conversations which will most likely hold my attention. This was one of my best dining experiences!!

Complaint Nation

Whenever i flip to the forum page of either Today, Straits Time or New paper where readers will provide feedback or voice their fustration, I would never fail to find a complaint letter where the stuff mentioned will be petty.Take for instance today when I bought the newpaper and a reader complained that the frequency of the trains has increased to the extent of trains having to stop longer at MRT stations so that there won't be any collision with the train in front..Give the MRT personnel a break!!First we wanted them to increase the frequency to an extent of trains coming every two mins during rush hour. Next, we want them to ensure that the train stops at the mrt station for a short period of time without any hassle.
When will Singaporeans stop complaining about petty issues? Are these issues going to be very relevant? i guess it's very important to be very punctual for work and time is of the essence and in today's world, technology has become a double-edged sword where manual things could be done faster but people expect us to do more within a short period of time but readers who write in to complain about petty stuff are frankly immature. I want to read constructive letters in the forum section and there are some constructive letters in the forum section occasionally.
I guess we Singaporeans are generally a bunch of armchair critics where we criticise the government and all the people in the world. Nobody is perfect in this world and you can't expect the government to be so perfect all the time. Some of you guys might feel that our tax money is paying for our minister's salary and we are entitled to criticise these people. If you think you are better than our minister or think you have a better idea of the state of the economy or the social issues and have a master plan, why don't u stand up for elections. I can hear another complaint saying that it's impossible for the opposition to win beacuse the ruling party will always make it difficult for the oppposition. There we go again. Our complaint list seems to be longer than our shopping and makan list!!!Aiyohhhhhhhh
I'm not in favour of the government or the opposition. I just want people to put themselves in other people's shoes and ask themselves what would they have done. i guess complaining is our number one past time besides makan and shopping

Laptop!!!!!

I finally realised my worth of my laptop when it wasn't with me yest. Seethai requested for my laptop as she needed my laptop for her fyp(final year project for the uniniatiated) and I agreed to it as she needed the laptop more than I did. After a wonderful dinner(i would leave it to my later post as I'm still waiting for the pics), I went back to my hostel and had a bath and I realised that I was immoblie as my precious laptop was not with me..
My laptop is my goldmine. Without it, my source of entertainment is deprived and I'm cut off with the rest of the netizens. My laptop houses my music files and movies and I can't live without those entertainment. Thankfully, I had sudoku which lasted me for one hour(i didn't solve it as it was tough) and i went back to sleep and the next day when Seethai brought me my laptop, I was super estatic and couldn't contain my glee..
Her FYP presentation went well thanks to my uhhmm lucky charm(my laptop) and my source of entertainment is reinstated. I guess it will be hard for me to imagine a week without the laptop but for now, it's back to my movies and music!!

I want to freeze time!!

I just finished my exams 12 hours ago and it was such a big relief. The exam period was pretty stressful as I had to do some last min mugging and for the first time in my entire, I went to the exam hall without sleep. That exam was ok but my biological clock screwed up big time. Well it's over. What are my plans?
I just want to freeze time as I want to relieve this moment slowly instead of time flying at me. It feels good when you watch a movie without feeling any guilt. I did a number of stuff in the couple of hours after my exams. I settled Daniel's stuff(one of my hall-mate who is an exchange student who is currently backpacking..lucky ass) as he will only come back in 1 month.Funny thing is he was worried about his laptop(he left his laptop in his room) as he didn't trust his roomate's friend who happened to be staying over for some time(a few weeks I suppose) and he's worried he might run away with the laptop...
I managed to catch Amelie, a French movie.pretty interesting and I liked some of the cinematography.Definitely a movie to watch.God.I just realised how many good films I have missed ever since I stepped into NTU. I will save the best for the last. I caught a full episode of America's Next Top Model. It was certainly a visual treat seeing hot women(some of them) working their stuff and sashaying down the runaway. Tyra Banks as usual is hot except that age is catching up with her and she doesn't look very hot as before but who cares and she's working at a music career.
Tyra Oh Tyra, I suggest you take a break from modelling and this entire media frenzy and consider some massive holidaying instead of working out yr vocals. Back to the programme..Nothing exceptional. It was boring at times with the girls using their sex appeal to the maximum and that kept me from dozing off. Anyway, I hope I get more visual treat on TV to keep me occupied for the next 3 months!!Yeah..baby..it's only the 1st DAy of Holidays!!
