Last Semester

My first few weeks of my first semester in NTU was pretty dull as my social network was pretty small(not much of a socialiser) and I travelled to and fro from hostel to campus. The only people I knew back then were my army friends and JC friends.Things started to brighten up when i got my laptop as i didn't have to go to library to access the Internet and i can watch movies on my laptop. It also pays to have a roomie who studies which will in turn forces me to study. However, things started to change when I met a few people like Seethai(whose NTU experience was very valuable and her stories will make me think twice about certain stuff and of course she will clarify most of my NTU doubts) and Senthil whom I had discovered that he stayed in the same hall as me and i began to frequent his room more often where we would end up exchanging our army stories and laughing over it.
The best part of my first semester has definitely got to be the holidays. I really played hard. I went for Hockey training(first time I'm playing the sport) and i played Carrom for my hall as well. My friends thought that I was nuts when i told them that i'm staying in Hall for the most part of my holidays and thought i didn't have any life. Well, they only knew the tip of the ice-berg as I had loads of fun playing carrom and hockey.
I didn't perform well in carrom as my opponents played dirty and my inexperience(my first competition) didn't help as well. However, I learnt a lot of lessons from the game and I have become a much improved player. I did make a 5 min guest appearance in a Hockey game as I couldn't cope with the pace of the game and I was a smart jack for choosing the winger role as I had to run up and down for the entire game but it was definitely an invaluable experience. I finally realised that I was unfit and i had to reignite my running regime.
Suddenly, my social network quadrapled and i got to know more people in hall. Some of my hall mates happened to be nice individuals with a great personality who are pretty interesting.
I also managed to catch up on movies which i have not been able to watch during exam period and i guess it was a good way of kiling time when u have no training. I suddenly felt like I needed an Idiot's Guide to Movie when i realised how many good movies that i have missed.
Staying in Campus do have its benefits as I can get to Kranji Mrt station and i can get to JB in a short period of time. I have made multiple trips to JB during the holidays and it really rocks and the most memorable one was when i went with my toasties friends and man, it really rocked as I got to learn more about Malaysia and tried different variety of food(besides Macdonald).
When the holiday ended, I felt a tinge of sadness as I had to curb my party ways and get back to studying mode. Now, I'm looking forward to the 3 month holidays in 3 weeks which will definitely be a blast as I have made numerous plans for the 3 months. Will keep you updated on those plans and now back to my books!!
