I was so pissed off with myself a few hours ago . I banged the wall in fustration and i just wanted to kick myself. You see, I'm a tutor and I provide tuition from Pri 1 to Sec 4. Yesterday, I went for my Marsiling tuition and i was going through my pri 6 kid's Maths homework. I was trying my best to solve a Maths sum and i couldn't do it. I thought i was missing out on something and i brought the book back and i asked my Uni friends(Mind you, they are all good in Maths) and i asked them to solve it. They couldn't solve it and i thought the question was phrased wrongly.I was thinking that the question was wrong or wrongly rephrased and i wanted to ask my kid to get back to her teacher about this question.
Today, Chen Yui, one of my labmate and my Hall friend came to my room and i gave him the problem sum. He solved the sum in 5 mins and he told me how to do it.Shock turned to anger and fustration. I was so pissed because the question was so tricky and after seeing his working and hearing his explanation, I got so angry with myself and with the author for torturing the minds of the 12 yrs..It's just too much...I guess kids do have it tough these days!!Give them back their childhood..They need to be analytical in solving today's problems!!!!Even Uni students got tricked..Anyone who's interested in solving the question is below my entry..Enjoy solving..P.S(Read the Question and the words very carefully)
Two TV sets, A and B have the same cost price, were priced at $800 each. Set A was sold at $800 with a profit of 60%. Set B was sold at a discount of 20%. If the two TV sets had the same cost price, what would be the total profit made from the sale of both TV sets?
Ans:$440
